Album Reviews : Disentomb – Promo 2009
Spewing forth their debut EP, Brisbane based Brutal-Death Metal act Disentomb have clearly stamped down their claim as one of the most extreme metal bands going around today.
If you’re hoping for nice melodies or breakdowns, you’re looking in exactly the wrong place, with in-human blast beats and guttural growls splattered all over this EP. To be frank, if played loud enough this could probably turn you inside out. “Subterranean Burial” is stunning with its heads down brutality, with guitars and drums played to their breaking point, where as “Gutted” is ferociously complex with spidery riffs backed by powerful drumming. While only five minutes long and containing two tracks, the 2009 demo is a ferocious sign of intent by the young DM quartet.
Disentomb were in-fact signed to Japanese label Amputated Vein Records on the back of this demo – a pretty impressive feat considering the band hadn’t even played a live show at that point.
With their debut album in the works for a mid-2010 release, and while certainly not everyone’s taste, Disentomb certainly have the huge potential to make a massive impact on both the national and global extreme music scene.
