Australia is currently facing its most catastrophic bushfires across New South Wales and Queensland where fires are currently raging out of control, a thick haze currently consumes most of the east coast of the country and the smoke can be seen from space. While the majority of firefighters in Australia are doing all they can to control the fires, unfortunately, they need more help, as do many Australian families who have been severely impacted by these fires.
The promotional entity, Megaton Music has stepped in to bring “We Got You!”, an Australian heavy metal bushfire benefit relief concert to raise much-needed funds for firefighters and families. As it stands, Megaton Music will be supporting NSW Rural Fire Service and the Salvation Army with more organisations to be announced. 100% of proceeds from the benefit event will go directly to the charities and organisations involved in the relief effort.
Steps are currently in place to bring in as much support from the Australian heavy metal and the hard rock communities. Melbourne’s Bendigo Hotel has graciously agreed to host the show at their venue and will not be taking a cut, plus provide promotion and printing at their own expense. The benefit event will take place on December 27th at the Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood, Victoria.
In addition, Melbourne Backline Hire has jumped on board who will supply the performing bands and artists a full selection of backline equipment. The Hard Rock Show and TGRS Radio have also joined forces to provide extra support and coverage of the event. Metal Obsession has also put their hand up to promote the event and do what we can to support.
Megaton Music is currently going through applications from bands, companies and volunteers who wish to lend a hand and show their support.
If you’re eager to support and help in any way possible, please email megatonmusicaus@gmail.com or head to the official Megaton Music Facebook page. Let everyone know you’re going by attending the official Facebook event page. Click here and select “going”. Simple! Stay tuned to Metal Obsession for the full-line up.
Make sure to keep an eye on the Bureau of Meteorology website for continuous updates on the fires across Australia. Be prepared and stay safe.
UPDATE: 18/11/2019
Looks like things are going well at the moment for Megaton Music and their upcoming bushfire benefit relief concert, “We Got You!” at the Bendigo Hotel in Melbourne on December 27th.
The promotional entity is requesting all hard and heavy bands across Australia to get involved in any way possible. Even if your band is not performing at the event, Megaton Music would greatly appreciate donations of merchandise and CDs to be raffled on the night.
If this peaks your empathy then you can donate to the following address.
