Album Reviews : Myoora – Moon Grotto
The entire world is a veritable treasure trove of heavy and progressive instrumental guitar wizardry at the moment. If you dig this type of stuff, it’s just a great time to be alive, and you will certainly dig this new artist.
Myoora is a Sydney-based prodigy by the names of Daniel Nesci and Daniel Pinto, Moon Grotto is a three track EP that shows off their blinding technical skills and compositional nous to excellent effect. The duo obviously likes the likes of fellow Sydneysider Plini, as well as Animals as Leaders, David Maxim Micic, Modern Day Babylon and the myriad other artists who are plying this type of trade around the world. But at the same time, they absolutely put their own spin on it.
And the most incredible thing about it is that Nesci is just 16 years old! The mind boggles at the potential here, if this is what he’s producing now.
The only part that doesn’t seem to work is a repeated section during the very AAL influenced Ashpalt and Absolution that sounds a little like a stuck record. However, it’s a small gripe when the EP overall is so entertaining, well written and well produced.
This EP will take you to the moon and back, in approximately 12 minutes.
