Articles : Metal Obsession – European Summer Festival Preview (With Full Force)
With Full Force is an open-air summer festival held every year since 1994, usually in June or July – this year, it will be from June 22nd to the 24th. This summer it will be at the Ferropolis, or “the city of iron,” in Germany, which is an open-air museum of heavy machinery. The festival attracts bands and fans of punk rock, hardcore, and heavy metal. Over 30,000 fans will be in attendance at this festival between Berlin and Leipzig.
In the previous years, WFF has had these bands appear between 6 and 9 times – Agnostic Front, Slayer, Madball, and Hatebreed. With Full Force has also attracted a range of well-known bands such as Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Asphyx, Meshuggah and Crowbar.
This year’s line-up includes highlights such as Kreator, Dropkick Murphys, In Flames, Ministry, and Sepultura, with more headliners announced soon.
Getting to the festival without a car will be a breeze – there will be a designated shuttle waiting at each of the two main train stations, Dessau and Gräfenhainichen. If you’re driving, you can park your car next to your tent in most of the camping areas; either way, once you’re in, you are free to set up your tent the afternoon before the festival, relax, enjoy a beer, and meet new people. You’re allowed to bring in limitless food and drinks into the venue, as long as there isn’t any glass. The festival prides itself in being environmentally friendly, clean, and anti-Nazi. You’ll also find plenty of food and beverage selections, water stations, portable WCs, showers, as well as a large clothing and jewellery market.
If this is your first time going to a German festival, grab your tent, your wallet, and your smile. That’s all you’ll need – come out and enjoy the camaraderie! Tickets are still available here – a weekend ticket will set you back €110. Join the party!
