News : Melbourne Metal benefit gig for bushfire appeal

By on February 17, 2009

Sunday, February 22nd will see the basement at the Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda play host to nine local prog bands, all in the name of helping raise money for victims of last week’s Victorian bushfires.

Headlining the night will be Five Star Prison Cell in a rare Melbourne performance, alongside Rook, The Violet Flames, Tim McMillan Band, Bellusira and Rincon, all of whom will be playing at the Espy’s Rock The Bay festival in early March.

Rounding out the full day of music, which begins at 1:00pm, will be Nyssa Bradsworth, Lesha and a special acoustic performance by Jed Wright and Appleberry from Engine Three Seven.

Entry is a donation of $5 or more and all money raised will go to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal, which has already raised over $100 million for victims of the worst natural disaster in this country’s history.
