News : This Year…

By on January 8, 2009

… shall hopefully be an epic one. Welcome to 2009 everybody. I was thinking about posting a bit of a look back on what’s happened on this site over the last year, but that would be ridiculous considering that it didn’t even exist twelve  months ago. This site and our forum has grown at a very unexpected pace, and we will try to keep it that way. News has been quiet over the past few weeks as bands and press spent their time celebrating the year with many a beverage, but that’s all over and it’s time to kick it into overdrive now.

There are already a number of great international bands touring Australia in 2009 as well as album launch gigs from various brilliant Australian metal bands which are yet to be announced. As far as our site goes, we have a few fantastic giveaways that will be online soon, as well as a slightly revised website design which will go online at some stage. Through our own interweb travels and hopefully the aid of band members themselves (go to the ‘submit’ page ya bastards!), we will be trying to increase our news flow as always, as well as the usual reviews and live photos.

As usual, we are open to ANY suggestions or critique anybody has. We are doing this for bands and fans benefits, not our own, so if this site does not cater to your needs then we need to know about it. Chuck us an email.

A final note – the staff on our website are all based in Victoria, coincidentally, which makes it difficult to cover the news in other states as comprehensively. If any interstate readers that are involved in the scene enough to come up with news articles and gig/album reviews are interested in joining our staff, then please send an email over to contact(at)metalobsession(dot)net and we’ll get back to you asap.

Cheers and we hope you all had a fantastic end of year break.
