News : Agave Maize no longer Agave Maize

By on August 11, 2013

Agave Maize was a pretty cool band name but, citing general evolution as the reason, the Melbourne black metal band have decided to go with something that’s, well, clearly much more black metal. Rather than repeat things, here it is direct from the band themselves;

“We would like to announce that as of today, we will no longer exist as “Agave Maize”. A lot has changed for this band over the past few years, our music has evolved and we feel this title has little association or relevance to what we have now become.

All future endeavours will be conjured under the new name “Mar Mortuum” ( latin/spanish meaning ‘dead sea’).

We have begun writing new material for our next release which we hope to finish recording by the years end. Our first live slaughter as “Mar Mortuum” will be on Oct 4th (details to come) followed by the “Bendigoat Metal Festival” on Nov 2nd. These will most likely be our last live performances before the new album is unleashed.”

For those who followed the band on Facebook, make sure to head over and “like” their new page. Oh, and here’s their killer new band logo;

mortuum
