News : A look into the upcoming Adamus Exul album
A few weeks back Melbourne black metallers Adamus Exul entered the studio to work on their sophomore album Arsenic Idols, the follow-up to 2010’s killer Death, Paint A Vision. Recording and mixing is taking place at Toyland Studio in Northcote, where bands like Blood Duster and Destroyer 666 have worked, and will be mastered by Fredrik Nordstrom who has worked with the likes of Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, At The Dates and Rotting Christ.
When asked how things have changed compared to the last album, vocalist Devalsne (who joined the band after the last album), had the following to say;
“The song writing in “Arsenic Idols” has evolved and matured from “Death Paint a Vision”, it has become darker and more personal. Putting ones blood, sweat and tears into a project is a term not to be taken lightly. The band has learnt and grown a lot since the previous album, with significant line-up changes and having to deal with the drama of a dirty past.
This time around, the lyrics are a lot more in depth and have more to say as opposed to the simpler writing of the previous vocalist. The album as a whole signifies the ultimate rebellion from all things – mankind in a sorry and pathetic state, will essentially bring about it’s own demise. But also rebellion from groups and tribes who have the facade of being unique and different, but still adhere to the same megalomaniacal principles of generic societal sewage.
The idea behind Arsenic Idols is how people worship gods, leaders, rock stars, famous people at the expense of their own dignity. Also, many of the lyrics touch on the concept of those who will cheapen and discard the artistic expression of others. How deeply insecure and jaded they must be.”
Don’t expect to see the band on the live front until they release the new 7-track beast later this year. Keep an eye on their Facebook page, or Metal Obsession, for more updates.
