News : New audio and album details from Encircling Sea (AOTY?)

By on December 3, 2012

It’s probably quite ridiculous to call Album of the Year when only (approximately) one quarter of the album is actually available, but it’s quite possibly the truth here. Encircling Sea‘s 2010 album Ecru, which was comprised of one thirty-seven minute song, is still an absolutely stunning listen now, and the first track from their new album sounds like it’ll live up to that.

Unlike their last two albums, A Forgotten Land is made up of four tracks (“Yearn”, “Transcend”, “Become” and “Return”), although we’re assuming there is some sort of lyrical connection throughout. The album is due out on December 21st, through the relatively new Melbourne-based label Natural World Records. Below is the second track from the album, which despite being eleven minutes long is just an “edit”. Prepare a change of pants.

Those of you in Melbourne can catch Encircling Sea live for the first time in eight months at the Gasometer Hotel on December 22nd, alongside The Boy Who Spoke Clouds, Bonnie Mercer and Soil & Ash.
