By on January 18, 2012

Filthy, rotten death metal band Black Jesus are getting closer to releasing their self-titled debut album, and are heading to the Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood (VIC) on Feb 4th for a launch show. Joining them on the night will be Tasmania’s Thrall with one of their first shows of the year, and death metallers Embodied. It will also be the first show for Hordes of the Black Cross since vocalist Halla departed in August 2011 on a European journey of black metal exploration. Tickets are only $10.

“Black Jesus was formed in 2009 and their 2010 tape-demo rose to cult status as an Australian metal underground must-have. In 2011 they played the Evil Invaders III festival inSydneyto rave reviews, and as a result were picked up by Sydney-based label The Coffins Slave for their debut CD.

“Black Jesus to us is some ofAustralia’s best death metal since the 90’s,” says Hushy Coffins of The Coffins Slave. “Aggressive and most important a real production! Most death metal bands in this country need to listen to Black Jesus and learn! Louder than 10,000 labours – death metal from the tombs!”

The current line up of Black Jesus is deep inMelbournemetal pedigree, including members ofWhitehorse, Delta Reds and Pneumatic Slaughter.

According to Hush, this show is “guaranteed to be gargantuan!””
