News : Chonkfest announced for Adelaide’s Fowlers Live

This September, Adelaide will host over 8 hours of some of the best up and coming Metal acts from around Australia.

Thefeej.com presents the debut of CHONKFEST – No Bullshit, just Metal @ Fowlers Live, Adelaide – Saturday September 3rd, 2011

Put together by the co-founder of Australian renowed and Adelaide’s own ‘Against The Grain Festival’, Lee Gardiner; Chonkfest has been created to showcase, in his opinion, some of the best and most impressive up and coming Metal bands from around the country; the Next Generation of Metal bands who have shown promising signs to join the ranks of Australias best.

Headlining the days festivities are the ever impressive, self proclaimed rednecks from Orange, NSW, Deprivation who will be playing the show as part of their extensive national tour following the recent release of their highly anticipated debut album, Amalgam. These country town thrashers have been captivating audiences Australia wide, being a stand out act at Brisbane’s Dead of Winter festival earlier this year, Deprivation are set to return to Adelaide to show why they are becoming a leading force in Australian Metal.

Joining them on the bill is local thrashers A Murder of Crows, fresh from their east coast tour, this young thrash quintet have quickly shot through the ranks impressing audiences Australia wide with their own unique brand of thrash metal. 2011 has seen AMOC support the likes of Darkest Hour (USA), Alestorm (Scotland) and Carnifex (USA) and are quickly cementing their rightful place in the Australian Metal scene.

Arcadia join the bill as another impressive local outfit. Bringing diversity to the lineup with their core influence, Arcadia are yet another product of Adelaide’s vibrant metal scene and are set to destroy the stage with their energetic stage show.

Filling the last of the travelling acts are Queensland’s own and respected death-groove metal band In Death, hard working and fast rising NSW core/groove band Illcontent (who are both making a solid name for themselves in their respective states). As well as Neck Deep from SA’s Mt.Gambier; after conquering their home town and Adelaide alike, are ready to show the rest of the country their brand of heavy metal. Add locals and new comers Exerthur (who have made a very promising start to their career), young thrashers Alkira and Beyond The Oblivion, CHONKFEST 2011 is not only a great opportunity to showcase some new talent but its a powerful line up which promises to deliver 8 hours of bone crushing Metal…
