By on April 20, 2008

Australian heavy metal/hard rock legends AC/DC have announced they will put out their first album in eight years this year.

“The waiting is almost over! AC/DC fans can expect the band’s next album of new material sometime later this year,” they said on www.acdc.com.

“The band are currently recording in Vancouver with producer Brendan O’Brien and long time audio engineer Mike Fraser.”

It will be AC/DC’s first collection of new material since the release of Stiff Upper Lip in 2000.

Formed in Australia in 1973, AC/DC has delivered rock anthems like Let There Be Rock, Whole Lotta Rosie and Highway to Hell.

The band has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, with the best-selling 1980 Back in Black album selling 22 million copies in the United States alone – surpassed only by Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller.
