News : Numerous lineup changes within the scene

By on November 14, 2010

Seems to have been a busy week in the Aussie metal scene, with a number of comings and goings right around the country.

In Melbourne, progressive power metallers Divine Ascension have formally welcomed new keyboardist David van Pelt to the ranks, having already debuted with the band at a recent show at The Arthouse. The band’s next gig is the massive Metal Obsession presented Sonic Forge Festival at The Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda.

Heading north, and long time Lycanthia guitarist Giovanni Gariano has announced his withdrawal from the band due to “overwehlming family commitments.” Giovanni played his final show with Lycanthia at The Lewisham Hotel, Sydney last Friday night.  He has laid down his guitar tracks for the new Lycanthia CD which is currently being recorded and will be due for release early 2011.

And out west, one of the founding members from death metal band Grotesque, bassist Simon Muller, is temporarily out of action thanks to shoulder surgery after he “tore all the muscles off his shoulder bone or something.” Longtime friend Brad (aka Blitz from Wardaemonic) recently filled in at the awesome Bastardfest, and will continue to do so until all is healed.
