With the Singapore bands first Australian tour kicking off this weekend, we had a quick chat with Meltgsnow‘s Lord Insanity about their new album, the Singapore metal scene, and what Aussie fans can expect from the band this tour…

————————–————————–

MetalObsession.net: Greetings, and thanks for joining us here at MetalObsession.net. How are thing’s going in the Meltgsnow camp?
Meltgsnow (Lord Insanity)
: Darkest greetingz MetalObsession.net, well, besides the hazy weather back in Singapore, all is good so far on our side.

MO: You have recently announced an Australian tour for the first time ever, with 3 dates scheduled this month. How excited are you about visiting our country for the first time and playing with the likes of The Eternal?
M
: We are extremely excited with the Australian dates and we are looking forward to sharing (destroying) the stage with all the great Aussie bands.

MO: What do you expect from the Australian crowd, and have you got anything special planned for them?
M
: Well, for the first time, we definitely have planned to perform our own rendition of either one or two cover songs that we hope will etched on the memories of our Australian hordes.View All Photos | Zack on guitars, Lord Insanity, Haiku | Meltgsnow

MO: You recently signed with Pulverized Records for your second album. How has it been working with the guys at the label?
M
: One thing for sure, Pulverized Records has been extremely supportive of whatever we want to do. We are glad that they are not at all restrictive of what we should or should not do.

MO: In regards to your new album, for those who are yet to check it out, what can they expect?
M
: There are a little of My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Danzig and a tinge of King Diamond and Rob Halford’s vocals. The album was recorded at Thailand’s infamous recording studio, RS Studio, Bangkok and was mixed and edited in Singapore, then polished and mastered by the great Jens Bogren (Opeth, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Amon Amarth) from Fascination Street, Sweden. We hope that you will enjoy our album.

MO: What are some of your influences in creating your music?
M
: We’re pretty much into everything that sounds great… We have loads of listening pleasures such as Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Opeth, Katatonia, Danzig, Type O’ Negative, Rammstein, King Diamond, Emperor, Mayhem, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and of course The Beatles – too many…

MO: What plans have the band got for the next year? More tours, back to the studio?
M
: Besides hoping to open up avenues to more diversified listeners and performing at more festivals overseas, we are definitely planning to start writing new materials and hit the studio for the next album.

MO: What is the local metal scene like in Singapore? A year or so back I remember Bhelliom made a visit to our shores, and bands like Wormrot have recently been signing to major European labels. What other bands should metal heads in Australia look out for?
M
: We have great metal acts from Singapore such as Impiety, Rudra, Opposition Party and more recently Bhelliom, Wormrot and Fall of Mirra who have all made us proud on the international scene.

Within Singapore itself, in the 1990s and early 2000, the metal scene was blooming with tremendous support from the fans and sponsors, however due to the recent problems for organizers to secure proper venues with permits for such shows have deprived the fans from all the head-banging. On top of that, the quality of shows has dropped a lot too (sadly).

Nevertheless, we hope that the metal scene here will slowly bloom again. With many new up-and-coming quality bands, I really hope that the media in Singapore can give some form of support and recognition to these musicians. On top of that, I also hope that we are able to get those much-needed venues, to allow us musicians to showcase our talents to the hungry fans here in Singapore. Well – we actually need MetalObession.net in Singapore!!! 😉

MO: Any final words to the Metal Obsession readers?
M
:Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

MO Thanks a lot friend!
M: No!!! – it should be – thank you MetalObsession!!!! For the support and recognition!!!!! Hail Yeah!!! See you soon…
