News : AC/DC aftermath in Adelaide and Perth

By on March 10, 2010

Australian music business wesbite TheMusic.com.au writes…

Just before AC/DC’s gig at Adelaide Oval to 43,000, one nearby pub stocked up with five times more bourbon and scotch. Scalpers were offering tix up to $1,000 — and the only disturbance of the night reported to police was five blokes in flannelette shirts singing loudly at the railway station.

In Perth, the Subiaco Hotel turned its car park into The Bon Scott Bar to entice the 48,247 heading to the show at Subiaco Oval (a record attendance for the Oval), adding 20 extra bar stuff and a dj spinning AC/DC trax. The Vic Hotel and Brass Monkey also put on extra staff and spun AC/DC music. A pity then that all the eateries in Subiaco were closed when hungry fans tried to get something to eat after the show.

Perth was of course Bon Scott territory, so they played a video tribute to him during “High Voltage”. Singer Brian Johnson told the crowd, “It’s good to be back. We’ve missed you. It’s Saturday night in Perth and what we are going to do is rock ‘n’ roll, and the party starts right now!” The fire in Angus Young’s fingers certainly had the crowd up and screaming.
