News : Steel Assassins Festival announces six bands for the 2020 instalment. More to come shortly.
Steel Assassins, the long-running heavy metal festival based in Sydney, Australia is back for another instalment in 2020, taking place on the 6th and 7th of November. On January 1st, 2020 the first band was announced. New Zealand based traditional metallers Forsaken Age. Next up to be announced was Brisbane thrash metallers, Asylum.
As a rare treat to old school metalheads, taking influences from Rainbow and Uriah Heep, plus plenty of NWOBHM elements is Tasmania’s Tarot, performing their first show in almost four years. Festival organisers then announced Canadian thrash metal ensemble WARSENAL, delivering old school thrash metal to the masses. This will be WARSENAL’s first time touring Australia.
In addition to the growing festival lineup, organisers then announced Sydney’s Hazmat next on the announcement. Hazmat are no stranger to the NSW metal scene, performing a plethora of local shows and supporting big-name international artists. Wollongong based metallers, Thrash Bandicoot, who have one of the best band names in metal have been confirmed as one of the opening band’s, recently releasing their debut EP ‘Milwaukee Cannibal’.
The latest addition to the festival is Tasmanian based traditional doom metallers, The Wizard. Influenced by such acts as Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus and many more.
Festival organisers have stated the aforementioned 6 bands are only 1/3 of what’s to expect from the final line-up with plenty more bands to be announced in the coming weeks. To find out more about Steel Assassin’s Festival, head to the official Facebook page.
