News : Ozzy Osbourne is no longer able to perform Download Australia. New replacement found.
No doubt many of you have been following the recent news of Ozzy Osbourne‘s state of health over the past couple of weeks. While there was a glimmer of hope for the 70-year-old metal icon to recover in recent times, that now seems unfortunately short-lived as Ozzy’s state of health has deteriorated to a point in which he has decided to cancel his appearances at Download Australia which will hit Australia in under 3 weeks, plus exclusive dates in New Zealand and Japan due to a pneumonia scare and doctors orders.
Download Australia posted the following details on their official Facebook page.
Ozzy Osbourne has announced that he must, unfortunately, cancel shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. This follows news of the postponement of the entire UK and European leg of his NO MORE TOURS 2 tour on doctors’ orders.
“Ozzy recently developed pneumonia and has spent some time in hospital. Thankfully he is now through the worst part, his doctors have advised that he stay at home to recuperate for a full six weeks with no travel,” says Sharon Osbourne.
We are extremely disappointed to have to bring this news to you, our Download family, however, it should go without saying, Ozzy’s health and wellbeing is number one. We wish Ozzy all the best in his recovery and hope he is back to full health as soon as possible.
It is impossible to replace Ozzy Osbourne at any time, but three weeks out from Download there is no chance of us securing an act to replace the headline slot.
Since the departure of Ozzy Osbourne from Download Australia, festival organisers have confirmed the addition of Melbourne hard rock icons, Airbourne.
In addition to what was posted on the official Download Australia Facebook page, patrons who have purchased a ticket to Download Australia will receive a voucher to spend online at 24hundred.net. See below for full details.
