News : Metal icons Voivod celebrate 35th anniversary with Aussie tour
Canadian based thrash metal icons, Voivod have confirmed a special tour of Australia next year to celebrate the band’s 35th anniversary. Voivod went on to become one of the innovators of progressive thrash metal alongside the likes Blind Illusion, Atheist, Coroner and countless others. Voivod is currently promoting their fourteenth studio album ‘The Wake’, available now via Century Media Records.
Founding member, vocalist Denis “Snake” Belanger prowls the stage and wins crowds with his mischievous charm whilst co-founder Michel “Away” Langevin on drums and new bassist Dominic “Rocky” Laroche pulverise the audience with intensely intricate patterns. Having recovered from the devastating loss of Denis “Piggy” D’Amour in 2005, VOIVOD has been invigorated by the increasingly imaginative presence of Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain who, ten years in, not only can channel Piggy’s groundbreaking guitar work but is developing new dimensions of sound guaranteed to shatter psyches and fire nerve-ends.
