News : Tobias Sammet’s Avantasia performing two exclusive shows in Australia

Tobias Sammet, a name most notably known across Europe as the voice behind German hard rock outfit Edguy and the monstrous metal opera project, Avantasia has confirmed he will be performing two exclusive shows in Australia next May to coincide with the upcoming Avantasia ‘Moonglow’ world tour. Presented by Overdrive Touring, Avantasia will perform in Sydney on May 12th at the Metro Theatre and May 14th at The Forum in Melbourne.

Known for its massive stage production and a stellar cast of characters, Avantasia fans will be pleased to know that Australia will be getting the same treatment as Europe with the upcoming tour. Artists who appear regularly on the Avantasia project will be making a special appearance at each show, however, no confirmation on who just yet.

Having blown crowds away with headline sets at both Wacken Open Air in Germany and Barcelona Rockfest while touring their previous album Ghostlights, Avantasia proved they are one of the biggest names in operatic and symphonic heavy music. Sammet is a masterful storyteller, creating epic fantasy worlds that can barely be contained within his sprawling concept albums.They can barely be contained on stage either with Avantasia shows sometimes lasting for up to three hours!

Avantasia – Is a portmanteau of the words Avalon and Fantasy and describes ‘a world beyond human imagination’ Over the course of seven releases, this incredible saga has been crafted by some of the greatest vocalists and musicians from the heavy music world. A literal list of who’s who and the contingent of players tasked to bring Avantasia to life in Australia is sure to impress.

Avantasia’s eighth studio album, Moonglow is due in early 2019 and boasts an incredible list of performers including Jorn Lande, Eric Martin (Mr Big), Geoff Tate(ex- Queensryche), Michael Kiske (Helloween) Bob Catley (Magnum), Amanda Somerville, Candice Night, Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian) & Mille Petrozza (Kreator)
