News : Melbourne’s Hadal Maw release their new single ‘Idolatry’
Since their inception in 2010, Melbourne’s Hadal Maw have continually strived to climb the ranks of Australia’s hard and heavy music scene, pushing a new paradigm in the heavier spectrum.
The band are back once again with the announcement of their new EP Charlatan, which will be released onto the world on Friday, 31st August with physical release pre-orders available now via www.hadalmaw.com and digital pre-orders going live from today! Check out the new single ‘Idolatry’, available now for streaming via the band’s official Youtube channel. Check it out below.
Vocalist, Sam Dillion comments:
“Idolatry touches upon the extreme admiration and obsession we have for power and faith, however false and detrimental that it may be for us. Many horrific acts can be pursued under the banner of religion or peace and sadly, this is a very real nightmare of our times. An anthem to abandoning our empathy and being lead by tyrants however farcical they appear.”
Speaking further about the themes of the forthcoming EP, Dillon says:
“We are witness to the rise of the Charlatan. Through the perfecting of lies and preservation of myth the serpents have come to power, we are beneath their pulpit. A vicious collection of anthems addressing the result of relinquishing to fear and those corrupt enough to peddle it.”

Hadal Maw has shared the stage with the likes of Decapitated, Suffocation, Ne Obliviscaris, Psycroptic, Beyond Creation, King Parrot, Aborted and many more.
2017 saw Hadal Maw release their album “Olm” through EVP Recordings (Psycroptic, King Parrot, Behemoth), displaying their inevitable breaking away from death metal and growing towards their ongoing desire to produce unique, meaningful works – instead of replicas. With its sprawling atmosphere, simultaneously crushing and beautifully twisted guitars and amorphous drumming, “Olm” gave Hadal Maw its voice as a valuable contributor to the art form of heavy music. Heavy Magazine said that “Olm represents a seismic shift for Hadal Maw. It’s an intelligent, flawlessly-executed body of work… an outstanding example of modern technical death metal that exceeds all the necessary quality hallmarks…”
Hadal Maw’s EP Charlatan will be released on Friday, 3rd August and can be pre-ordered from today at all good online outlets and available now for physical pre-order at www.hadalmaw.com. Single Idolatry will be available to stream and purchase at all good online outlets from this Friday June 22.
