News : Hollow World release new line of merch, reusable coffee cups
Coffee is metal. Wrecking the environment is not.
This is the mantra behind Melbourne-based melodic death metal band, Hollow World‘s new line of merchandise: reusable coffee cups. Expanding on the themes of their latest album, Exanimate with its themes of mankind’s fall and how we, as a society, slowly destroyed our own planet, the desire to produce these reusable coffee cups came about as a means to help reduce the needless and harmful build up of landfill.
As band guitarist, Theo Goslett explains it:
“Did you know that takeaway coffee cups aren’t recyclable? It’s estimated that as many as three billion coffee cups are sold each year in Australia. And most of these aren’t recycled – they’re piling up in landfill and escaping into our rivers, parks and marine systems. If you use this cup for as little as ten coffees then you’ve already saved more plastic from going to landfill than it took to make the cup.”
The cups feature a heat-resistant, silicon band around the middle and a secure screw on lid. As an added bonus they are BPA free and dishwasher safe and are available now via the Hollow World webstore.
In this day and age, it’s interesting to find bands like Hollow World thinking outside the box with their merch, and delivering to their fans something that’s accessible but also deeply personal to them.
Even little lifestyle choices can have a massive influence on the impact we all have on the environment.
