Articles : Metal Obsession – European Summer Festival Preview (Wacken Open Air)
It’s that time of year again where metalheads from all across the globe converge to Europe to partake in the annual European summer of metal festivals. This year, Metal Obsession returns to the holy Wacken land, a place deemed by many as the mecca of heavy metal. Annually, some 85,000+ people from across the globe trek to Wacken, Germany to be a part of one of the world’s most recognisable and celebrated heavy music festival’s in the world, Wacken Open Air.
The festival began in 1990 and has since played host to some of the most spectacular live performances and reunions from the world’s biggest metal, rock and punk bands. Each year Wacken Open Air offers a wide variety for all lovers of heavy music.
This year’s line-up is no exception, and is quite possibly the biggest line-up the festival has ever had (we say that every year). The 2017 Wacken line-up includes; Europe, Powerwolf, Avantasia, Accept, Volbeat, Marilyn Manson, Lacuna Coil, Megadeth, Emperor and an additional 100 bands.
