News : Hollow World Release New Single ‘Wildfire’; Announce Exanimate LP details
Melbourne’s Melodic Death Metal maestros Hollow World unleashed a savage new track today into the world. ‘Wildfire’ is a fresh look into their new record due for release on Friday, March 17th, entitled EXANIMATE. Previous Single ‘Defiling Paradise‘ dropped in late 2016 and was embraced wholeheartedly by the heavy music community, also features on the record.
New Album “Exanimate” consists of two stories – One about a super-virus that wipes out the human race, the second story is of the human race being a virus that wipes out the world – rendering it uninhabitable. Both these stories twist and turn around each other as the album plays out, exploring the similarities between what a super-aggressive virus can do to a living body and the irreparable destruction that human beings are inflicting on our planet.
Ben Roberts, vocalist for Hollow World, addressed the meaning behind the lyrics and the overall intent of the album. “While writing the lyrics for the album I was very conscious not to take an angst-ridden approach towards it – but to have more of a sense of focused anger. To have frustrations directed in a certain direction, and to develop a story where the audience could be easily receptive to it. I wanted to be precise with my aggression and I really feel I’ve captured that. In recent years I’ve been becoming increasingly angry at the culture of mass consumption we seem to have enveloped ourselves in, with no regard for the flow-on effect this might have – not just on the natural environment – but also on the way we live our lives and develop ideas. We have developed this idea that everything is disposable, everything can be replaced by something newer and better and it is showing in the way people interact with everything, from personal property to the way they treat other people. “Exanimate” is a volatile reaction to this.”
Exanimate has seen Hollow World push themselves not only from a technical perspective on the record but also from a songwriting perspective. Roberts offered that “Instrumentally we have all grown more in-tune with each other and created more of a distinguished “sound” that is Hollow World. It’s fast, it’s melodic, it’s heavy, it’s savage and it’s relentless. It’s 40 odd minutes of extreme melodic death metal that we could not be more proud of.”
Ermin Hamidovic from Systematic Productions (Devin Townsend Project, Periphery, Betraying the Martyrs) has produced the whole album – from engineering to mix and to master – he has handled the whole thing – and it sounds enormous. I can not wait to have it released and in the hands of people and hear what they have to say about it!”
The unrelentingly brutal new single will be available from this Friday at iTunes and Spotify for purchase/streaming. Hollow World’s Exanimate will drop on Friday, March 17 and Pre-Orders are now open at hollowworld.com.au/merch, with various bundles now open. New Single Wildfire will be available on Spotify and to purchase in iTunes from this Friday 10th February.
