News : Save Eureka Rebellion Trading – Crowdfunding Campaign

By on January 30, 2017

ERTEureka Rebellion Trading, the Melbourne-based metal megastore (where you can do such things as purchase rare vinyl, get a tattoo as well as grab a haircut and a beer while listening to great music) are putting out the word to any and all who will listen to ask for help in their time of need. Having existed as a business since early 2013, in the business’ own words, “the mission was to create a space that reflected Melbourne’s creativity”. Owned by Anthony and Emily, two individuals with industry experience and a passion for music and art, decided on the idea of creating a place that would combine a tattoo studio with a barber shop and a record store; creating something wholly unique to Melbourne’s huge music climate, and a treasure to be found in that city.

Following some difficulties after a move of location in February 2016 from their old spot on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy to their new destination on 400 Smith Street, Collingwood they secured a short term lease and spent the remainder of the year there, growing the business and renovating it also. The news came hard on January 5th this year, however, when (for reasons still under investigation by ERT) their landlord terminated their lease. Due to a lack of suitable options in the neighbouring area, Eureka Rebellion Trading were forced to close the business until further notice.

See the video below, posted by Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage; who Eureka Rebellion Trading once hosted.

Believing in the community that helped build their business – and allowed for them to host such acts Tonight Alive, Kadavar, Gang of Youths, and Blue Pills; along with fan parties for the likes of Municipal Waste, and more – ERT has put together a Pozible crowdfunding campaign to find the business a new home.

With a host of nifty pledge items up for grabs – including t-shirts, signed vinyl, tattoo vouchers, full barbershop experiences, and much more – it all add to the overall costs to get this idea off the ground.

Aiming to raise a total of $45,000, the funds will be used as shown below (as taken from the Pozible page):

  • Building Renovations: Installation of plumbing, electricals, painting, plus any other upgrades needed to meet council requirements.

  • Shop Fittings: New retail counter, barber bench and record bins to suit layout of the new building.

  • Amenity Upgrades: New barber chairs, wheel upgrades on tattoo benches, hardware and software for digitalised waivers and artist folios.

  • Fees: GST, Pozible, credit card and transaction fees as well of cost of campaign goods (merchandise).

At the time of posting, the campaign has raised AU$576 from 5 supporters. With 30 days left, there’s still plenty of time to pledge as much or as little as you wish.
