News : Blunt Shovel unveil debut album details + tour dates
Melbourne death metallers Blunt Shovel have announced plans to release their debut album ‘Get In The Ground’ through Goatsound/Gamla Grind Records which will be made available in Australia on January 17th. In addition, the band will also be supporting the album with a number of select shows across the country.
Blunt Shovel features members of Truth Corroded, The Ocularis Infernum, Abrasion and Bowel Mouth.
Blunt Shovel are a ‘new’ old school metal institution featuring members of legendary Aussie metal bands, forming to bring a fresh sound and approach to a style they are well accustomed to. Bringing a tongue in cheek approach to their lyrical content, the band has complete disregard for what is considered “hip and happening” in the larger metal music “scene”. Blunt Shovel take their musical cues from the classics of the genre, tapping into the aggression and intensity of bands like Bloodbath, Carcass and Revocation. Laying on the super heavy hooks and solid metal grooves thick, if you’re a fan of anything death metal, old or new, then you know where the bodies are buried.
February 18th – The Tote, Melbourne with The Douche Crew (featuring Danny Lilker and Nick Barker).
February 25th – The Barwon Club, Geelong with Earth, Rust Proof, Nemesium and Vulture Culture.
March 3rd – The Eastern, Ballarat with Naberus, Bury Me In Autumn, Nemesium, Vulture Culture and ANKL.
March 4th – The Musicman Mega Store, Bendigo with Alice Remains, Vulture Culture, Maleficium and Callous.
March 12th – The Enigma Bar, Adelaide with bands TBA.
March 18th – The Rockstar Bar, Frankston with Alice Remains, Headless, Exsul and more TBA.
+ more shows TBA shortly.
Since making their first live appearance in 2014, Blunt Shovel has shared the stage with some of Australia’s finest metal acts, including Blood Duster, Hadal Maw, AMDBL, I Exist and Dreadnaught – to name a few. Blunt Shovel features members with a solid musical pedigree, with members serving time in Truth Corroded, The Ocularis Infernum, Abrasion and Bowel Mouth.
You can catch “Shovesy” live on their album launch dates next month:
