News : Nuclear Assault – Australian tour supports announced!
Back in September we announced that come February next year, New York-based 80s thrashers Nuclear Assault would be hitting Australian shores for the first time. Now, the official tour supports for Nuclear Assault‘s Australian tour in February 2017 has been announced!
The supports are as follows,
In Melbourne, Hidden Intent will open the show with their mix of old school thrash meets groove with blackened thrash elements. The Adelaide trio unashamedly wear the 80’s on their denim sleeves!Home town hammers, Desecrator will no doubt receive a heroes welcome when they pummel the crowd into submission with their twin axe attack, punishing rhythms and on point thrash vocals. Uniting the old guard and recruiting the new, the four piece stay grounded in the roots of thrash while branching into modern territory. The best of both worldsBrisbane fans will be transported back to the golden age of thrash via Gold Coast bangers Deraign who’s precise riffage, unbridled energy and white high-tops embrace the true essence of the era. Hidden Intent will be making the journey north to deliver another powerful set of neck snappin’ blackened thrash. As will Elm Street Melbourne’s ultimate metal warriors delivered a world class album in the shape of Knock Em Out..With A Metal Fist earlier this year and that’s exactly what will happen if you’re standing in front of these guys when they take the stage. A more true heavy metal band, you cannot find.In Sydney, Murderworld will open proceedings with their patented Aggressive Thrash Experience. Perfect for those who like to headbang to the sounds of a psycho screaming over a chainsaw! With two shows under their bullet belts, Hidden Intent will be primed to deliver a killer set to the Manning Bar crowd, leaving them exhausted but with just enough energy for the final Nuclear Assault!
With a 30 year career at their back, as previously explained in past posts, this will the first and last time fans will be able to experience the thrash majesty of Nuclear Assault live on our southern shores. So make sure you don’t miss out!
Presented by Hardline Media and Big Deal Touring.

Featuring founding members John Connelly on vocals and guitar and legendary bass player Dan Lilker, who is also known for his work with Anthrax, S.O.D and Brutal Truth, plus the inhuman drum machine Nick Barker who has blasted for Cradle Of Filth, Testament, Dimmu Borgir and more, Nuclear Assault is a honed musical weapon primed to devastate the Australian landscape.
With the release of their 1986 debut, Game Over, Nuclear Assault cemented an immediate global reputation for possessing impeccable, precision thrash riffs and undeniable, authentic hardcore cred, combined with biting social commentary and an irreverent sense of humour.
Along with Anthrax and Overkill, Nuclear Assault formed NYC’s ‘Thrash Trinity’ and with album sales pushing close to the million unit mark, they are rightly regarded as metal royalty.Nuclear Assault’s history is filled with dizzying highs and equally levelling lows. Peaking in 1990 after their defining album Handle With Carewhich sat on the Billboard chart for six months and saw them playing packed venues across the world. They disbanded in 1994 after several member departures and the arrival of the grunge movement impacted hard.
Reforming eight years later in 2002, they quickly regained lost ground and released Third World Genocide in 2005, a back to basics pure thrash record that was highly praised in the metal press.
Now Australian fans thrash prayers have been answered, the Assault is coming to town!Playing all the classics from Game Over, Survive, Handle With Care and Out Of Order,
it’s strongly suggested that fans get their tickets early as this is their ONLY chance to see these legendary thrashers on Australian soil!In the words of Dan Lilker, We’re going out with a bang! Stand by for the Final Assault!
