News : Legion Metal Fest Cancelled!
The organisers behind the much anticipated Legion Music Fest have announced some sombre news regarding the festival. Due to “a number of business considerations”, the organisers have made the decision to not proceed with the proposed launch of the Legion Music Fest in January next year, and have cancelled the festival entirely.
Legion Music Fest organisers posted the following on their Facebook page.
“The organizers wish to thank all Aussie metal fans for their continued support of the Legion project over the last 10 months.
Due to a number of business considerations, we have made the decision to not proceed with the proposed launch of Legion Music Fest in January 2017.
*Edit* Please note – no transactions have been processed at all and no fans are out of pocket.”
Thanks

The idea of Legion Music Fest was conceived by John Sankey, the drummer behind Devil You Know and Devolved. After the demise of the Soundwave Festival in 2015, many were left uncertain, but thanks to the efforts of John Sankey, many Australians got a glimpse of what could have possibly been Australia’s first ever crowd-funded music festival through a Pozible campaign. Legion Music Fest would have seen the likes of DevilDriver, Devil You Know, Darkest Hour, Lordi, Aversions Crown, Caligula’s Horse and many more.
The festival organisers of Legion Music Fest were initially asking for $3,275,000 from supporters to cover all expenses. The campaign endgame seemed impossible but gradually built up momentum as time passed. However, organisers found themselves hitting a brick wall half way through the campaign when funding started to dry out and dates for the festival were pushed from mid-2016 to early 2017. By some strange twist of fate, Legion Music Fest was eventually paid in full in March of this year.
All seemed to be coming up Milhouse for the organisers of Legion Music Fest, but with the recently announced cancellation, it seems music supporters in Australia can’t seem to catch a good break when it comes to having a heavy music festival of their own.
Proposed Legion Music Fest line-up:
