News : Premiere: Enslaved & Wardruna members team up for “Skuggsjá”
There simply isn’t a way that a project featuring members of Enslaved and Wardruna could possibly go badly. The project titled Skuggsjá began when Ivar Bjørnson (from the former) and Einar Selvik (the latter) were asked to write a piece celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian constitution by the Eidsivablot festival.
“Our performance confirmed that this project should live on, develop and thrive. During 2015 we have performed the piece once more at the Roadburn festival, and have also discreetly slipped in and out of studios around Norway to record what is to become our debut album.”
Don’t go in expecting much metal, this is instead some absolutely stellar folk with Einar Selvik performing on goat-horn, taglharpa, Kravik-lyre, birch-bark lure and bone-flute (which sounds totally badass).
Other members from both bands appear on the release too; Grutle Kjellson and Cato Bekkevold from Enslaved perform vocals and drums respectively, with Wardruna’s Lindy-Fay Hella also adding some vocals, Olav L. Mjelva on harding fiddle, and Eilif Gundersen on birch-bark lure.
The full release is due out on March 11th, and below we’re proud to have the Australian premiere of “Vitkispa”, courtesy of Season of Mist.
