News : The Sword Announce February 2016 Australia/NZ Tour
Texas heavy metal kings The Sword will be making their long awaited return to Australia and New Zealand next year in February, in support of their critically acclaimed fifth studio album, ‘High Country’. This will be the band’s first headline tour, since their time here in 2013. The new album – which released in March-April this year – charted at number 30 in the US Billboard 200 and smashed Top 10 lists and sales charts around the world.
Joining The Sword on their tour with be homegrown brethren, American Sharks (also from Austin, TX), and will further be joined by Melbourne punk rockers Clowns.
Since their inception in 2003, The Swords have graced us with their presence on a number of occasions, but nothing like this, their triumphant return to the Southern Hemisphere in February will mark their first ever headline tour, as they’ve previously toured here in support of Metallica (2010) and as part of the 2011 & 2013 Soundwave Festival. They’ve never headlined their own tour in Australia and New Zealand, till now that is.
Show promoter Heathen Skulls had originally sought to have The Sword as headliner on the bill for their Rolling Thunder Festival (originally set to be at Kryal Castle), but this will be now be going ahead at the Collingwood Town Hall as a part of The Sword’s overall Australia/New Zealand 2016 tour.
