News : Eluveitie Return to Australia in 2016 for “An Evening With…”
UPDATE (6/5/16): In an wholly unexpected announcement earlier today, Eluveitie announced with a heavy heart the departure of three of its members. After the band parted ways with longtime drummer Merlin Sutter, fellow longtime members (and personal friends of Merlin’s), Anna Murphy (vocals/hurdy-gurdy) and Ivo Henzi (rhythm guitar), also left.
We have decided to part ways with our longtime drummer Merlin Sutter. In the consequence of this, Merlin’s close personal friends Anna Murphy and Ivo Henzi decided to leave Eluveitie as well.
The members then noted in a lengthy explanation via their official Facebook page the following:
Chrigel Glanzmann will continue on his path just as we will on ours. Therefore, the music you love will evolve and branch out, and we encourage you to look forward to it. In the meantime, we will give it everything on stage one more time, hopefully with you, while completing the current world tour as well as our last European shows in May and early June. Our last show in Switzerland takes place in Basel on June 3rd, and our final show with Eluveitie will follow the same weekend at Fortarock Festival in Holland.
The band’s upcoming shows in Australia will be the last with Eluveitie’s current lineup, so Australia, let’s make them memorable!

2016 just continues to bring the goods before it’s even rolled around. Today saw another huge tour announcement in Eluveitie. The Swiss Celtic folk metal heroes will be returning to Australia since their last venture over in 2013, for a very special ‘An Evening With Eluveitie’ performance.
Presented by Tombowler, the tour which is set for May next year will include a 2-hour set apiece celebrating the band’s 14 year career. For the first time ever also, Eluveitie will be making the trip to Adelaide and Perth also, so be sure to get involved.
Special VIP Meet & Greet packages available via Tombowler. These include the following:
- General Admission ticket to the show
- Attend meet & greet session with Eluveitie
- Exclusive 2 song acoustic performance
- Photos with band members
- Exclusive A3 card poster
- 3 x Exclusive guitar picks
- Exclusive sticker
- 2 items signed by Eluveitie

The world’s preeminent proponents of melodic death metal and Celtic folk are returning to Australia. The eight members of Eluveitie fill the stage while their exquisitely brutal music fills the room – Bonebreakingly heavy guitars and ferociously pummeling drums face off with whistles, hurdy gurdy, bagpipes, flute and violin to deliver a metal experience like no other.
Formed in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann, Eluveitie breathes life into the history and myths of Western Europe long ago with a mix of poetic beauty and intense onslaught. Heroic tales of Kings and furious battles are juxtaposed with serene narratives of lands lost and legends of bountiful Gods.
Chrigel’s guttural growl and Anna Murphy’s beautiful soaring voice alternate over shredding riffs and ethereal melodies that will have you moshing one minute, dancing the next, and in blissed out rhapsody by the end of the show.
And what a show this will be! The band are very excited to present for the first time a 2 hour show featuring songs spanning their entire career, from the record that stated it all, Vên, the first full band album, Spirit, the classics Slania and Everything Remains, right through to the band’s most recent work, Origins. Along the way the band will offer many surprises including a unique acoustic interlude which will leave you dazed by its austere elegance.
Eluveitie’s shows are acknowledged as amongst the best in the world and the 2016 tour is guaranteed to be extra special.
And yes, Adelaide and Perth… Eluveitie made a special request to visit your wonderful cities for this tour and are very excited to be coming to play for you in 2016 – make sure you reciprocate their enthusiasm and get your tickets soon as!
