News : Steel Assassins Festival kicks off this weekend
Sydney’s long running two day metal festival Steel Assassins is back for another instalment at the Bald Faced Stag in Leichhardt. The festival was created by Metal Evilution back in 2012 with the sole purpose of supporting and promoting Australia’s sort after traditional, speed, power and thrash metal acts.
Steel Assassins lends heavy influence from European metal festivals like Keep It True and Headbangers Open Air (minus the camping), giving Australian metalheads a unique opportunity to partake in Australia’s own version of a 2 day metal festival, and support some of the country’s biggest and emerging heavy metal bands.
This year sees Transcending Mortality perform their first live show in over 7 years. The band released their debut album ‘The Last Horizon’ back in 2006 and accompanied it with several tour dates around Australia.
Included on the bill are Canadian heavy metallers Vicious, who will be performing in Australia for the first time ever, Australia’s earliest thrash metal band Nothing Scared, who re-activated earlier this year as part of Heavy’s Brewtality Festival and continued on to do a couple of shows in Japan. This will be the first time the band have performed in Sydney in almost 28 years.
