Australian metal webzine SF Media have officially launched their ‘Welcome to SF Media Touring’ campaign. A brand new component for SF Media that will see it branch out into an independent touring company, alongside its usual duties.

They recently unveiled the following press release.

Welcome to SF Media Touring.  While we’ll be known to those in the industry as SF Media Touring, we’ll be much more than that.

We aim to support Australian bands that want to get gigs, whether they are the very first show right up to international supports and headline tours.

Our mission at SF Media Touring is simple.

Allow bands to put on a killer tour without having to worry about all the behind the scenes stuff that goes along with it.

After all, you’re in a band and you just want to play, right?

Unfortunately, you just can’t go out and play a gig without all the right support and strategies in place, and this is where SF Media Touring will assist.

We will:

  • Book a one off gig
  • Book a whole tour
  • Pitch your band for international supports
  • Organise headline or co-headline tours
  • Plan your tour itinerary and budget
  • Ensure you have the necessary transport and accommodation booked
  • Ensure you have either a gig worksheet or tour book for your show/s
  • Ensure you have a work contract between the venue booker or promoter and your band
  • Ensure you receive your agreed performance fee
  • Issue you with an end of tour report, which includes a reconciliation of performance fees
  • We can also assist with organising backline, sound engineers, tour managers and merch sellers
  • Organise the promotion and advertising of the tour
  • Work with our publicity team to develop promo plans, which include pre-tour media, interviews, reviews, on ground media
  • Consider your tour to be presented by HEAVY Music Magazine

SF Media Touring understands that all gigs and tours are different and bands have different expectations, even though the principles of touring largely remain a constant.  That’s why we will organise a meeting with the band before the beginning of the tour plan or campaign to ascertain exactly what you want and issue you with a document of agreed terms and outcomes.

We will regularly check in with you whilst on tour to ensure all is going according to plan.  If you don’t have a tour manager, we can organise a person in each city to meet and greet you to ensure your gig or promo runs smoothly in that city or town.

And one last thing we will not budge on.

We will never ask our bands to enter a competition to play a gig.  Nor will we ask them to play for free or pay to play.  We believe that you should be compensated for your work and we’ll only be seeking out quality gigs and promoters, which is why we will only work with quality, hard working bands.

If you already have a manager or you manage yourselves, we will ensure our tour plans fit into the overall picture of your band management plan.  We will never act on an offer without approval from your manager or the band representative.   We are aware how important booking gigs is to the bigger picture of your music career and we want to work with all your support networks to ensure the gigs and tours we book for you are the ones that will achieve the maximum results.
