Brisbane-based alternative progressive rockers, Caligula’s Horse, have unveiled the music video for their new single “A Gift to Afterthought”, the first track from the band’s most recent, critically acclaimed album, ‘The Tide, The Thief & River’s End’.

Filmed at The New Globe Theatre in Brisbane, and premiering on Revolver Magazine’s website, the music video was shot by Adrian Goleby. “The mindset of this video was to build the entire production around showing what we do live, down to bringing in our touring lighting and visual technicians and giving them free reign,” says guitarist Sam Vallen. Impressively, with less than a day’s notice for many, Caligula’s Horse’s fans all leapt at the opportunity to help the band and crew. “Probably the most memorable moment was between takes, when everyone was chugging down Red Bull and soaked in sweat, Will Hunter and Eric Jinks (our lighting and visual technicians respectively) cranked Darude’s Sandstorm through the PA with a spot-on light show. It was like everyone in the crowd was in on the joke, and the theatre became a dance club for 10 minutes.”

The concept here is that the more we as a society ignore such abhorrent actions, the easier it becomes for those in power to enact them: ‘We don’t remember the first crack, but we will all recall the flood.’ – Vallen

Caligula’s Horse will be embarking on a headlining tour of Australia this month. They’ll be joined by Breaking Orbit, Alithia, and Orsome Welles (on select dates). These shows will see Caligula’s Horse play material from their forthcoming album (due out later this year).

Tickets are on sale now via wildthingpresents.com, Oztix, and the venues.
