News : Trendkill Magazine celebrates one year anniversary
On Saturday 13th, December at the Reverence Hotel in Footscray, Trendkill Magazine will celebrate its one year anniversary. For the past 12 months the Melbourne based on-line heavy metal magazine has been offering readers a unique perspective of the world of heavy metal with a plethora of interviews, album reviews, news and more. The magazine’s entire catalogue can be read here.
The mammoth anniversary line-up includes; Desecrator, who had the honour of supporting Sepultura, Trivium and In Flames earlier this year. Local thrash titans In Malice’s Wake, who recently released their debut live DVD ‘Vision of Live Destruction’. Dreadnaught, Australia’s metal staple for over two decades, plus Melbourne’s premier melodic death metallers, Orpheus Omega, who recently released a live DVD detailing their first Asian tour exploits.
Sydney thrash metallers Darker Half were set to co-headline the event, but sadly withdrew due to their bass player, Simon severely breaking his hand, and another member recovering from recent brain surgery.
Darker Half released a statement regarding the cancellation.
On Friday 13th of December Darker Half was due to play Trendkill Magazine’s 1st Birthday show at the Reverence hotel. It is with huge regret that we have to announce that we must pull out of this show. Our Bass player Simon has severely broken his hand to such a degree that he is unable to play his instrument. With one of our guitarists also out of action recovering from his recent brain surgery, we think it would be better to cancel than deliver anything less than the Trendkill 1st B-day bash and it’s crowd deserve.
We are hugely sorry to Dave and everyone involved in putting on the show and also to everyone who was hoping to catch our set. We’ll be organising a return to Melbourne show as soon as the whole band is in good health.
Darker Half have since been replaced by Melbourne groove metallers Decimatus. The line-up also includes performances from Envenomed, Harlott, Demonhead, Espionage, Malichor, Cage of Serenity and Decapitated Mum.
Make sure to get down early and celebrate with Trendkill. Let everyone know you’re going by attending the official Facebook event page. Doors at 2pm. Tickets are $20 at the door.
