News : New Metal Festival, ‘UNIFY’, Announced
A new metal festival has been announced that will see Australian indie label UNFD join together with 24Hundred.net, alongside other organisers (as yet unnamed), to present the festival that’s been entitled, ‘UNIFY’. It’s set to be a “two day boutique” where you’ll be able to camp out and soak up the atmosphere of the music at Tarwin Meadows, South Gippsland (a “relaxed two hour drive from Melbourne”), and set across a secluded Recreation Reserve, is only a ten minute drive from the ocean.
The concept is to create a community driven event of 3000 punters across the Punk, Hardcore and Metal world, with an all Australian lineup that showcases the quality and diversity of our heavy music culture. The site includes a camping area, full Stage and Production setup, BYO and licensed areas, and a punter friendly atmosphere. The camping element of the gathering is inspired by the European festival culture that takes place across their Summer.
The event will take place early in January next year on the 10th and the 11th. The inaugural lineup was today announced also. Headlining the event will be none other than Melbourne-based, post-hardcore outfit, The Amity Affliction.
…who recently sold out their entire ‘Let The Ocean Take Me’ tour including their Festival Hall show in Melbourne which sold out in under a week. With three Gold records and two number 1 albums under their belt, Amity have become one of the leading draws on the Australian touring circuit.
The Amity Affliction will be joined by Sydney’s Northlane, who, despite losing their vocalist Adrian Fitipaldes, it is presumed they will have a replacement by the time UNIFY festival rolls around. Also joining in the fray will be a host of popular bands and fast-rising up-and-comers in the local metal community. Thy Art is Murder, In Hearts Wake, Confession, Deez Nuts, Buried in Verona, Hand of Mercy, and Break Even (who are reuniting after their split last year just for this event) have all been tipped to round out the main portion of the impressively sized bill.
The rest of the day will comprise a host of other interesting activities including the likes of Live DJs, mini golf, sports-field, chill out areas, street card food, late night cinema, and more. The site also features both BYO and licensed areas, and all tickets are to include free camping on site. The event, however, is strictly 18+.
Tickets for UNIFY will come in “special bundles” (including various band merchandise) and start at $99. Tickets go on sale October 2 at 9am via 24hundred.net exclusively.
