Articles : Metal Obsession’s Monthly Giveaway #4 (Metal Down Under, Hell On The Bay + more!)
This is our fourth month of doing monthly giveaways on Metal Obsession. The response to these has been excellent, thanks to everyone who has entered and we hope the winners enjoyed their stuff.
This month’s giveaway will have six winners instead of one or two, so there are more chances to win something!
Last month’s giveaway featured a $60 voucher from Into the Pit Records, a Metal Obsession shirt and CD’s/merch from Perseverance, Whoretopsy, Toehider, The Furor and Diamond Noir, all in two separate prize packs. Congratulations to Jo Emery from Magdalla, SA, for winning the Into the Pit prize pack, and Mark Ryan from Sunbury, VIC for winning the Metal Obsession shirt + CD prize pack!
One of the big metal releases of this month is the Metal Down Under DVD, documenting Australian metal from the very beginning in three 50 minute episodes. Nick Calpakdjian (Animus Industries) has travelled across the world since 2012 to make this documentary, interviewing people such as Steve Hughes, Blood Duster, Ne Obliviscaris, Mortal Sin and dozens of Australian metal bands/fans from the past and present. The DVD is set to be released on August 22 through Waterfront Records, and you have a chance to win a copy of the DVD and a Metal Down Under shirt by entering this competition! Check out the official trailer below.
The huge heavy metal boat cruise that is Hell On The Bay is back in September for its second installment, with this years line-up featuring LORD, Ruins, Bane of Winterstorm, Hybrid Nightmares and the return of Demolition. The Brimstone Bookings event will be happening on Saturday September 6, and everyone from Victoria that enters this giveaway will go in the draw to win 1 double pass to the gig. We also have a few copies of the ‘Visions: A Brimstone Bookings Compilation’ CD that will be handed out on the night of that event, featuring the bands playing Hell On The Bay, and Melbourne bands Trigger, Envenomed, Catacombs and more!
Here are the other CD’s we have up for grabs this month:
Order of Chaos (VIC) – Deadweight Undertow
Almost at their 20th year as a band, Melbourne’s Order of Chaos return with a new album, which shows a mixture of their roots in death metal, mid-era metallic hardcore smarts and a new found punk undertone.
Listen: “Dead On Arrival”
The Arbiter (VIC) – Live & Complex
Brutal groove heavyweights The Arbiter have been on a roll with releasing new music since their formation last year. Add this new EP to the list, featuring seven songs recorded live at Complex Studios. Listen: “Nothingworks”
Two people will win:
– Metal Down Under pack (DVD + t-shirt)
– Visions: A Brimstone Bookings Compilation CD
– The Arbiter/Order of Chaos CD (one or the other)
One person from Victoria will win:
– Hell On The Bay double pass (with Visions: A Brimstone Bookings Compilation CD)
– The Arbiter – Live & Complex CD
– Order of Chaos – Deadweight Undertow CD
Three people will win:
– Visions: A Brimstone Bookings Compilation CD
To enter this competition, email comp@metalobsession.net with the subject “August Giveaway″ and your name, address and shirt size. For a bonus entry in the draw, share the Metal Down Under trailer above on Facebook (w/screenshot proof) and tell us what your favourite Australian album of all time is.
