News : Toxic Holocaust & Skeletonwitch tour cancelled
The planned Toxic Holocaust and Skeletonwitch co-headline Australian tour that was set to commence in just under two weeks time has sadly been cancelled. Rumors of a supposed cancellation were abound on the official Facebook event page earlier this afternoon, and were only recently confirmed by the promoter.
Due to a serious medical issue affecting Joel Grind, the tour has now officially been cancelled and postponed for later this year.
The promoters, Heathen Skulls Touring – have released a statement cancelling the tour.
“Joel has been suffering with severe ear infections, as the condition has shown no improvement the medical specialists have advised Joel against travelling as he will likely need to undergo surgery to avoid any permanent damage to his hearing. We are all saddened by the news but Joel’s well-being must be given priority.
We are currently working together to arrange new tour dates, at this stage the rescheduled Australian tour will be planned for Nov/Dec 2014. Full dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
The cancellation of the Australian and New Zealand tour ultimately effects Skeletonwitch’s South East Asian tour, which was due to commence this week. That leg of the tour is being presented by another promoter, so we have no news as to weather that tour will be re-scheduled or not.
Joel is extremely disappointed that he must pull out of the scheduled tour, but hopes fans will understand that by treating this condition now it will ensure he can continue performing for years to come.
Heathen Skulls completely supports the band’s decision to postpone and is looking forward to bringing out Toxic Holocaust later in the year.”
A statement from Toxic Holocaust and Skeletonwtich management was also made.
“Unfortunately, due to a serious and prolonged ear infection suffered by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, the Toxic Holocaust/Skeletonwitch Australian & New Zealand tour will not be happening in April 2014. Joel is unwell and recommended by his Doctor not to fly till his condition is taken care of. We are truly sorry, but this is something that’s out of hands.
Toxic Holocaust will be rescheduling their tour for November with another US band, whilst Skeletonwitch will now be doing their own headline tour sometime later when time permits in their busy schedule.”
A new announcement will be made soon for those wishing to retain their tickets for the rescheduled Australian tour dates. Refunds will be available from all ticketing outlets from Wednesday, 9th April.
