News : The Adolescents are touring Australia for the first time
After announcing tours for D.R.I. and D.O.A. just over a week ago, The Drunk Promoter has announced another punk tour; this time for Californian hardcore-punk legends the Adolescents. This will be their first tour on Australian shores in their 30+ year history.
One of Southern California’s best-loved hardcore bands, the Adolescents helped establish the blueprint for Orange County punk, along with Agent Orange and Social Distortion. The Adolescents’ blazing energy and quintessential teenage snottiness gave them an instant connection with their audience, and defied their upbringing in California’s bastion of staid conservatism.
Their impact was an enduring one, as countless followers borrowed from their attitude and covered their best-known songs. in 1981 they released their self titled debut album “Adolescents“ which would become one of the most influential Southern California punk rock albums of all time. Along with Bad Brains, Black Flag & Minor Threat they are one of the leading bands of the 1980s hardcore / skate punk scene.
The Adolescents play 3 highly anticipated shows up the east coast of Australia this July for the first and let’s face it, probably the last time ever.
This tour has been announced early, and tickets won’t go on sale until March 18. The tour dates are:
Thursday July 3rd – The Tempo, Brisbane
Friday July 4th – Hermann’s Bar, Sydney
Saturday July 5th – The Evelyn Hotel, Melbourne
