News : Mastodon, Baroness and Gojira sideshows announced
Soundwave Touring have announced a monster metal triple-bill sideshow for Soundwave Festival, featuring Soundwave 2012 stars Mastodon and Gojira, and newcomers to Soundwave, Baroness.
With the well-earned reputation as one of the heaviest live bands in the world, MASTODON return to Australian stages for the first time in 2 years! On the back of the band’s Soundwave Festival 2014 shows, they will perform 2 monster Sidewaves! Be prepared to be PULVERISED! The Atlanta-based band formulated their own brand of highly-skilled hard rock over a decade ago when others were rehashing 80′s metal, and went on to mastermind a string of complex concept albums while much of the music world was centered on making digestible singles! “They’ve been one of metal’s sharpest, flat-out exciting bands for more than a decade now” – Pitchfork
Riff heavy bonafide metal gods, BARONESS will hit the stage with all the grit and power that has made this band one of the most exciting in the world! The band’s first full length release, Red Album received high critical praise, eventually garnering the #1 album-of-the-year slot in Revolver Magazine. 2009’s Blue Record made an impact on the best-of lists in publications as varied as Pitchfork, Village Voice, PopMatters, Revolver, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer. Following a year off the bands third album, Yellow & Green garnered enormous praise including reigning over Spin’s “20 Best Metal Albums of 2012,” and BBC Music describing the album as a “nearly flawless collection”
French thrash metal giants GOJIRA will round out the lineup for this brutal night! With their completely unique and instantly identifiable style and messaging, GOJIRA are considered by many as one of the most iconic metal bands today!
