News : Dumbsaint release new single/short film package
If there’s one thing we love it’s bands pushing their art to the next level, and Sydney’s Dumbsaint so exactly that. The first half of this year has seen the band release their Perennial 2013 DVD and tour nationally with the USA’s This Will Destroy You and Twelve Foot Ninja, and now they’re returning to the live stage armed with a new project.
“‘The Auteur’ is a brand new, standalone audio/visual project, featuring the first new music to be released by DUMBSAINT since becoming a four-piece in June 2012. The single sees DUMBSAINT continuing to explore unexpected interactions between sound and image, working with a range of new techniques to tell an experimental narrative that plays with inventive references to the band’s own filmmaking process. Shot and edited entirely by the members of DUMBSAINT, the short film is a surrealistic adaptation of the band’s weighty new track, with the enigmatic story unfolding in perfect sync with the music itself.
The filmmaking band has extended the idea of collaboration to the single’s ‘B roll’, which includes remixes of the new track from the likes of Sydney electronic artist SETEC and Brisbane sound artist EOIN CLEMENTS. Each of these musical contributions will form part of a larger remix project that will be rolled out over the coming months, as DUMBSAINT reimagines ‘The Auteur’ in between writing sessions for the follow-up to the band’s debut album, 2012’s ‘Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form’.”
The Auteur is now available over on their Bandcamp page, and you can catch the band live on the following dates;
Friday Sept 6th @ Bald Faced Stag, Sydney
w/ Helm & Adrift For Days
Saturday Sept 7th @ The Evelyn, Melbourne
w/ Helm, Bronson and Anna Salen
Saturday Sept 14th @ Enigma Bar, Adelaide
w/ Helm and Tabula Rasa
Satruday Oct 5th @ Coolangatta Hotel, Gold Coast
w/ Helm, Widow the Sea and Hammers
