News : Adelaide prog rockers Quiet Child have released their new album

By on July 17, 2013

It has been quite a while since Adelaide prog rockers Quiet Child had a new release out, but as of July 4th, the follow-up to their 2011 release Thumper is out in the wild.

“The Coming Storm is the bands third full length release and, compositionally, is a stark change to the bands previous releases.  Full of lush orchestration, moments of alternative electronic phrases and a vast array of instrumentation, ‘The Coming Storm may be a side shift from ‘Evening Bell’ and 2011’s ‘Thumper’, but manages to remains distinctly Quiet Child; it is an epic release that will consume you completely and stop you dead in your tracks.

Hints of what to expect have been available online with the stunning new single “I’ve found some poison,” the aural onslaught of ” Cannonfire March” and the electronic jazz infused ” In Out”.

Keyboards are a welcome and seemingly natural addition for the band, complementing Peter Spiker’s multi- layered song writing and the textured feel of this album.  As always, the amazing vocals are a highlight and rise to new heights on the final track “Conditions.”

Quiet Child have always been characterised by their stunning moments of light and shade, which have never been more beautifully juxtaposed than on ‘The Coming Storm’.  An album of sombre beauty, frustration and heartache – this album presents a fragile emotional grasp and a desperate personal release.

“The Coming Storm” is Quiet Child at it’s uplifting best.

You can grab the album over on Bandcamp. Keep an eye on the bands website for 2013 tour announcements.
