News : A member change for Divine Ascension

By on April 11, 2013

Melbourne progressive metallers Divine Ascension (the ones who did that rad cover of the latest Bond theme) have had a bit of a lineup change, with the departure bassist Simon Mahoney.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time with DA, but the time has come to pursue other interests. I have every faith that they will continue to create awe inspiring metal and I wish them the best for the future.
-Simon”

“Simon’s time in DA was swift, but crucial in aiding us in moving forward. Simon brought with him a great sense of confidence in DA and what we wanted to do and that was felt by all. His bass playing and backing of Jen took our performances to a new level and we were saddened to hear of his desire to leave. We wish him well with his future endeavours. Cheers mate.

Filling the spot though, is Jason Meracis (ex-Unknown Addiction)

“I’d like to say hi to all the DA fans out there! I’m super excited to be joining DA at this point in time and being involved in all the new and exciting things the band has in the works currently. I’ve been a huge fan of and friends with DA for years now and I am really sad to see Simon leave the band. It’s an awesome feeling joining DA and I can’t wait to get out and start playing shows with everyone. Let’s see where this tour bus takes us!
Cheers, Jason.”

“We are extremely excited about having Jason on board. He has been a friend of ours for quite some time and we have always admired both his ability as a bassist and his passion and drive to create music that pushes boundaries. Welcome aboard.
Luke & DA.”

Jason’s first show with the band will be supporting Kamelot at the HiFi Bar in Melbourne on June 7th. The band are currently in the studio working on their second full length album. To keep up to date with how it’s going, their Facebook page is the place to be.
