Articles : Brace Yourselves… Change is Coming
By Mitch Booth on October 12, 2012
You may have noticed that we’ve been a tad slower than usual on the news front lately (with the exception of the past 48 hours where we’ve been playing catch-up). That’s because there’s a whole lot of cool things happening behind the scenes. Within the next couple of months, Metal Obsession will be undergoing a monstrous facelift. It’s time to spice things up. Here’s what to expect, in handy-to-read dot-point form!
- The entire site will be redesigned. It’s looking mighty sexy, if we do say so ourselves. Expect something much neater and less image-heavy. Categories will be split up, instead of just being one big content feed. The end result will mean more content will be only one click away at all times.
- Press releases suck. They’re long, and full of pointless sentences. So, once the new site launches, we’re doing away with them. Instead of having to wade through carefully thought-out pieces from labels, you’ll have to wade through our much-less-thought-out and highly opinionated ranting instead. In short: expect more character.
- More content than ever. As well as being easier on the eyes, the new site will be easier for us to update. The easier it is to update, the more likely it is we’ll close Youtube or Facebook and actually do something productive with our time, like post an article.
- A wider range of genres. No, we’re not selling out, and you won’t see any terrible pop-punk popping up. We’ve never really shied away from posting not-so-metal things, as you’ll notice if you count the amount of articles we’ve run about Sydney’s sleepmakeswaves. Put frankly: if an awesome local band that we love is doing something that we think people should see, we’ll probably post it, even if it’s a four hour ambient soundscape. Variety is the spice of life, as they say.
- Our newsletter will be more awesome. It’ll now be weekly, coming out every Wednesday, and including a summary of what’s happening in the local metal scene, as well as what gigs to look out for on the coming weekend. Facebook is turning to shit, with less than 10% of our fans now actually seeing what we post, so if you want to keep up to date (and can’t be arsed checking the site every day) then the newsletter is definitely the best way. You can sign up in the form below.
So yeah, lots is happening here. If you have any ideas of other ways we can improve, or questions, or anything really, then chuck us a message below. We’ll take anything* on board.
*maybe.
