Interviews : King Parrot – Bite Your Head Off! (An interview with Matt Young)
King Parrot – Matt Young
Lets be honest here. When you’re talking to a deadshit who doesn’t know when to shut his mouth, you’ve most likely called him a “parrot”, especially when you’re talking about him to your mates. Think of King Parrot as that guy’s boss; a blistering, extreme 5-piece metal band from Melbourne. With members previously coming from bands such as Blood Duster, Dreadnaught and Cockfight Shootout, these guys are not new to the scene, bringing their influences from older bands to form a unique blend of thrash and grind metal. With the release of their EP ‘The Stench of Hardcore Pub Trash’ in 2011, the band is set to release their debut full length album ‘Bite Your Head Off’ in October, with a string of shows across Australia (most being on the BASTARDFEST line up) as the album launch.
With that being said, Metal Obsession caught up with the self-proclaimed ‘King Parrot’ of the band, vocalist Matt Young, to talk about the debut EP and new album, Bastardfest, the Soundwave line up (before the second announcement was made) and his favourite Australian metal bands.
