News : Adrift For Days – Footage, drone and tone from the ‘Come Midnight’ sessions

By on January 24, 2012

This month Sydney drone/doom band Adrift For Days returned to Studios 301 to continue working on Come Midnight, the highly anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed debut album The Lunar Maria. As Part of their ritualistic reverence to drone, the group shot a short video which showcases the sounds they’ve been working on in the studio.

The man behind the desks is none other than Tim “Panther Blood” Carr, a one time NeYo collaborator with unparalleled drone credentials, having worked with the likes of Matt Corby, Kyu, The Cat Empire, The Herd, We Lost The Sea and countless other artists spanning an absurd mix of genres and styles.

“We’re really excited about how this album is developing. I feel like we’ve really pushed our sound in all directions. The psychedelic elements are far more warped, our palette of influences is much more varied, and, most importantly, there are moments of transcendent drone that should shake the fucking foundations of the earth.

‘Come Midnight’ is going to track in at an epic 74-minutes. It’s a concept album, and it’s shaping up to be a hell of a journey. I can’t wait for people to hear it. We’re looking for label interest at the moment, and I think it’s going to see a mid-2012 release.” – Lachlan R. Doomsdale (guitarist)

Their first release The Lunar Maria received an impressive 9.5/10 on this very site (which you can read here), and you can also download it for free via artascatharsis.bandcamp.com. And for those of you in Sydney, you can catch Adrift For Days live on March 16th with Whitehorse, Summonus and Throax at The Square.
