News : Voyager lose a member and gain another

By on October 23, 2011

Perth progressive metallers Voyager, who very recently released their latest full length The Meaning Of I, had sadly announced the departure of long time drummer Mark Boeijen.

“After 6 years, 3 albums and countless shows, I’ve decided to step down from my position in Voyager. In the past 12 months alongside various life changing events, it has been increasingly difficult for me to find the drive to join the band on their journey to the next level. With Voyager’s schedule becoming more demanding, I feel that I cannot commit any further, and trying to do so would be both unfair and unprofessional for both parties. So I’d like to take this time to thank Brad Wesson and Soundworks Management for all the hard yards, Ken @ Sensory Records for taking a chance, ex members Melissa Fiocco, Chris Hanssen and Mark De Vattimo for being a part of this experience for me and most importantly – to YOU, all the Voyager fans who have made us who we are today.

And finally to Danny, Simone, Alex and Scotty: Thanks for giving me your very best, for allowing me to create at such an elite level musically, being my family away from home and helping me achieve a lifelong dream. The memories will last forever!! All the best for the future!

Mark Boeijen

However, with that news also comes the announcement of his replacement. Ashley Doodkorte of The Floors, Will Stoker & The Embers and ex-Pryomesh is the latest addition to the V family, after filling in on the band’s recent US tour.

“Ashley recently did a stellar job filling in for Mark on our recent tour of the USA and believe us when we say he fits into Voyager like a glove! We look forward to the future of Voyager with Ashley onboard and the music we will create together.

Please join us in wishing both Mark & Ashley all the very best

Danny, Simone, Alex & Scott”
