News : Sydney’s “House of the Unholy” opening very soon
Beginning October 15th, Sydney has a new “non profit cult underground rock club”, House of the Unholy. Held at The Sly Fox (199 Enmore Rd, Enmore), the club will kick off with a Doomsday Festival afterparty featuring a live set from Melbourne stoner sludge band MOTH. And to top it off, entry is, and always will be, free. For more information, read below, and head over here.
“From our collection of mainstream and underground artists, some of the music we will feature on our nights ranges from The Black Keys, Discharge, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Dismember, Sex Pistols, At The Gates, Amebix, Darkthrone, Anthrax, Carcass, Mastodon, The Jesus Lizard, Alice in Chains and Sick Of It All amongst our selected DJ’s underground favourites such as Electric Wizard, The Devils Blood, Disfear, Thou, Cursed, Portal, Nazxul, Soilent Green, Damaged, Volbeat, Church of Misery, Early Graves, Yob and Looking Glass.
House of the Unholy will feature a favourite of our underground bands in the country every evening which could be something as extreme as an improvised Black Metal outfit such as “DISRUPTURE”, Prog Blues kings “SONS OF THE IONIAN SEA“, Victorian Heavy Sludge crew “CEMENT PIG”, Mathematical Comedian Metal “Nobody Knew they were robots“, Sydney’s very own “DEATHCAGE“, or maybe Victorian Grind obliterators “AGENTS OF ABHORRENCE”, amongst a lot of others we are sure you’ll love.
We want to bring back the fun of playing in a band rather than a futile exercise in how many punters can get through the door. Music is art and art isn’t a product. Music or Rock n Roll in this case is about having a good time playing music. Being in band is a hobby and it should always be about the love of the music, not the money involved or the popularity.
Opening on Saturday October 15th 2011 your jaws will drop with the extreme talent we will throw up on our stage for you as you drink and puff away with what could very well be your best mates up on stage tearing it up and causing a ruckus!”
