News : Metal at the Comedy Festival
It may not be the most obvious place to find it, but there is indeed metal in this year’s comedy festival. And just like last year, it comes in the form of “gender spastic” black metal fan Andrew O’Neill and ex-Nazxul/Mortal Sin/Slaughter Lord drummer Steve Hughes.
The former of the two is a vegan, heterosexual transvestite, black-metal loving amateur occultist, and a truly unique character. He does regular comedy shows at Download Festival, as well as walking tours of Jack The Ripper’s murder sites. If that’s not enough to get you purchasing a ticket, here is a clip of last year’s Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala appearance. Andrew will be performing at the Melbourne Comedy Festival from March 31st until April 24th (except Monday’s), and you can grab tickets from this link.
Steve Hughes on the other hand is a full-blown Aussie metalhead (who now lives in the UK), who has been doing comedy since he put down the drum sticks 11 years ago. Finally returning to Australia after six months touring Europe, his new show Conspiracy Realist promises a provocative topical, political and intellectual commentary delivered in his trademark no-bullshit style. Steve will be performing at the Melbourne and Sydney festivals, on the dates listed below. And as an added bonus, Metal Obsession is lucky enough to have a stack of double passes to Steve Hughes’ first two Melbourne shows, and first two Sydney shows. So to enter the draw, send an email to contact(at)metalobsession(dot)net with your full name and address, and specify which date you would prefer.
