By on January 21, 2011

If there wasn’t enough Soundwave sideshows already announced. We have some more for you!

SAXON & THE SWORD

Legendary British hard rocker’s SAXON will be performing in Sydney and Melbourne to coincide with the upcoming Soundwave festival in March. THE SWORD (who supported Metallica on their previous Australian tour) will be supporting Saxon in Sydney and Melbourne. Tour dates and details below.

Press Release:

To say that SAXON are one of metal’s most influential bands would be no understatement. The band who along with Iron Maiden and Motorhead begun the movement now known as The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, have been cited by no lesser luminaries than Metallica and Slayer as a primary influence.

Being the trailblazing pioneers in any walk of life has its hazards and so it was that SAXON‘s over the top shows also inspired a young filmmaker by the name of Rob Reiner who made the world’s first full-length mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap!

One of the foundations of the metal revival of the past ten years, THE SWORD have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness, toured the world with Metallica, and were one of the first bands to lock into a whole new legion of fans through Guitar Hero. This summer, the band casts its gaze to the stars for ‘Warp Riders’, their third full-length and most ambitious effort to date.

Warp Riders is THE SWORD’s first concept album. It’s also their most flat-out, supercharged, adrenaline-pumping work yet, a chrome-plated war machine that lauds over the blackened sky. “Warp Riders” is a monster of an album with monster melodies, monster hooks, and monster riffs… an album overflowing in classic metal perfection.” – Metal Underground

STONE SOUR, COHEED AND CAMBRIA, SEVENDUST AND 36 CRAZYFISTS

Next we have a mammoth sideshow in Melbourne and Sydney. Get in quick as this one will surely sell out fast.

Press Release:

STONE SOUR is a multi-faceted hard rock force of nature.

The continued ascendancy of Stone Sour is a genuine phenomenon. Resounding with more power and passion than ever before, on the new album ‘Audio Secrecy’, Corey Taylor proves he is much more than the snarling masked role he plays in Slipknot. Pitting bone-shattering riffs alongside unforgettable choruses, STONE SOUR “have created the soundtrack to the rest of our lives” – Rock Sound

It would be hard to find a band with grander artistic scope than COHEED AND CAMBRIA. Over the course of nine years and five groundbreaking albums, the New York foursome has diligently developed a unique sound combining forward-thinking classic rock with strong pop sensibilities and intricate musicianship. An epic alternate universe of extended tracks with odd time signatures, convoluted ballads with fiery guitars, anthemic instrumental crescendos and everything in between, COHEED AND CAMBRIA live show is just as intense and hypnotic, “at one point you felt as if you were inside the pages of a twisted comic book, the next walking through a graveyard, at the bottom of the ocean or even floating in space—and the music kept dragging you in further.” – Hey Reverb

There’s something intangible about a band with strong chemistry and when all the elements are fused together, almost anything is possible. SEVENDUST’s new record, ‘Cold Day Memory’, capitalizes on that chemistry. The reunion of SEVENDUST’s original lineup has reinvigorated the band and led to one of the best albums of their career. SEVENDUST sound excited, energized and ready to take on the world. “’Cold Day Memory’ is a killer release, and should propel the band to be included next to the biggest names in Metal today.” – Guitar International

With an abundance of deliciously sick guitar strokes and swift running bass lines teamed with vocalist Brock Lindow’s relentless hyperactive energy, it is clear that 36 CRAZYFISTS were principally a band that existed to play live. “Displaying all of 36 CRAZYFISTS now-trademark metallic post-hardcore stance, ‘Collisions And Castaways’ heralds a return to the band’s glory days.” – Rock Sound.  With the incredibly enigmatic Lindow at the helm, 36 CRAZYFISTS live shows are nothing short of a brutal party.
