News : Meltgsnow ‘Black Penance’ Australian tour

By on October 11, 2010

Singaporean gothic metal band Meltgsnow are the latest band to be visiting Australian stages. Their quick tour, with one show in Sydney and two in Melbourne, also contains The Eternal‘s single launch and the return of Envenomed (with members of Eye of the Enemy and In Malice’s Wake) to the live scene for the first time in a year.

“Forming a dark horizon to the musical landscape, MELTGSNOW (pronounced Melting Snow) was formed in 1999, instantly standing out in the Asian Goth-Metal scene with their dark, progressive and intense approach to metal. Their evolution as a band has created a completely unique sound, characterized by a mix of melody with aggressive dark rhythm and intense vocals.

Their debut album, “Insanity”, was released on Sonic Wave Records in 2003 to rave reviews, followed with a successful tour in the United States. Known for their live intensity and wild antics on stage, Meltgsnow has garnered a faithful following in Thailand and Singapore with positive feedback from fans and press alike.

In late 2008 the band returned to the studio to record their highly anticipated new album, “Black Penance ”. Exploring a dark musical landscape, their first single from that album “Empty Sky”, received national radio airplay and excellent reviews from fans and local media. Jens Borgen (Opeth, Paradise Lost and Katatonia) from Fascination Street Studio was also brought in to master the album, to give it a more aggressive and polished sound. “Black Penance” was recently picked up by Pulverised Records as one of their first Goth Rock/Metal signings, and was released in September, 2010.”
